WILLMAR -- Willmar Municipal Utilities officials hope a water line break this morning under Litchfield Avenue Southeast just east of Lakeland Drive will be repaired by early afternoon.
Water service to several customers within three blocks including Burger King and Subway was disrupted after the 6-inch water line under Litchfield Avenue behind Burger King sprang a leak. A crew from the utilities was present with equipment to excavate the site and repair the line.
According to Water and Heating Supervisor Joel Braegelman, there wasn’t much frost in the ground to slow the work. Braegelmen described the break in the line as a small leak, caused by the ground shifting as frost goes into the ground. Braegelman said water line breaks typically happen this time of year.
