Willmar's Junior Miss selected

WILLMAR -- Kindra Seifert was chosen Willmar Junior Miss during a program Saturday night.

She attends Willmar Senior High School and is the daughter of John and Mary Seifert of Willmar.

The Junior Miss program emphasizes education by providing scholarship opportunities to outstanding college-bound high school girls, and to encourage them to become leaders in their communities.

The judging criteria is 25 percent on individual interviews, 20 percent scholastics, 25 percent talent, 15 percent fitness, and 15 percent self-expression. The Americas Junior Miss program started in 1958 and Willmar has had a program since 1962. It is currently sponsored by the Willmar Area Women of Today.

Seifert performed a violin solo. She now advances to the state competition.

Bethany Buer was named runner-up. Also participating were Caitlin Cooreman, Sara Kokkila and Stephanie Revermann. Allie Ellingson was last year's Willmar Junior Miss and also is the reigning State Junior Miss.

Seifert participates in Cardinal Choir, orchestra, Key Club and student council at Willmar Senior High. She is a Cardettes danceline co-captain and is a member of the National Honor Society.

She was the Willmar High School Leadership Perspectives participant. She was the 2006 Girls State Delegate, and dances in the Willmar Dance Club and Colleen's School of Dance. She is a member of St. Mary's Church.

She is employed by the Willmar Conference Center and by Colleen's School of Dance.
