The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 4 p.m. today for much of southwestern, west central and southern Minnesota.
The advisory is in effect along and southwest of a line from Morris to Hutchinson and Red Wing. Among the counties included in the advisory are Lac qui Parle, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Renville, Yellow Medicine, Meeker, Swift and Redwood.
Strong westerly winds will persist through the afternoon, the Weather Service said. Sustained speeds of 30 to 35 mph will be common, with gusts of up to 50 mph possible.
The Weather Service warns that driving could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles on north-south highways.
