Brett Winkelman, a red-shirt freshman forward from Morris, drained a three-point shot in the closing seconds last Thursday, lifting North Dakota State University to a 76-75 win over Montana State in the semifinals of the Holiday Stores GranTree Inn Classic in Bozeman, Mont.
He finished with his first collegiate double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
One night later, the 2004 Hengstler-Ranweiler Award winner hit the game-winning shot, a layup at the buzzer, as the Bison (7-7) nipped Northern Illinois 57-56 in the championship game.
He had 11 points and eight rebounds in that game.
