Even with today's sunny sky and projected high of 57, Nov. 12 kicks off Winter Hazard Awareness Week, an annual effort to educate adults and children about the dangers of snow and cold weather.
Each day of the week is dedicated to a specific topic: winter weather facts, outdoor safety, holiday fire threats, indoor air quality, insurance issues and automobile safety.
At www.winterweather.state.mn.us , information is organized by topic for media, safety professionals, K-12 educators and the public. Artwork, fact sheets and workbooks are downloadable, and the site includes a popular "Kids and Educators" page that features an entertaining approach to safe behavior.
