Woman injured in accidental shooting at Willmar Super 8

WILLMAR -- A woman was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital Saturday night with non-life threatening injuries after she was injured in an accidental shooting at the Super 8 motel at 2655 First Street South in Willmar.

The call to law enforcement was made at approximately 10:05 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Willmar Police Department, the handgun was accidentally discharged in one room, and the injury to the woman occurred in a room next door.

The victim was injured in the leg, the police report said. She was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar by ambulance.

No names have been released as of yet and there has been no word about possible charges. The police department said this is an ongoing investigation and that all parties are cooperating. Assisting the police department at the scene was the Willmar Ambulance.
