Women arrested for robbery attempt

ALEXANDRIA, S.D. --- Two Minnesota women attempted to rob an Alexandria gas station Sunday afternoon, according to the Hanson County Sheriff's Office.

ALEXANDRIA, S.D. ­- Two Minnesota women attempted to rob an Alexandria gas station Sunday afternoon, according to the Hanson County Sheriff’s Office.
Alissa Wakefield, 18, of Cloquet, Minn., was the woman who entered the Westown Shell about
1:30 p.m. and demanded money from the clerk, pointing a gun to the clerk’s head.
Kelsey Souder, 19, also of Cloquet, was the getaway driver who was caught on Interstate 90 shortly after Wakefield was apprehended.
The women are being held at the Davison County Jail in Mitchell on felony charges, including first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit offenses.
Wakefield is being charged with aggravated assault, a felony.
Souder is also charged with driving under the influence after admitting she and Wakefield smoked marijuana prior to the robbery attempt.
