OLIVIA - A worker was seriously injured Tuesday morning when a trench wall collapsed while a crew was installing tile in a field north of Morton.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Scott David Reinhart, 45, of Morgan.
According to a preliminary investigation, Reinhart was among a crew of workers installing tile in a farm field south of the intersection of County Road 18 and County Road 2, a mile and a half north of Morton in Birch Coulee Township.
The Sheriff’s Office said Reinhart was apparently in a trench, approximately seven feet deep, attempting to connect tile lines when one of the trench walls collapsed, burying him. He had to be extricated from the trench by coworkers and emergency personnel, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Reinhart was flown from the scene by North Air Care to North Memorial Medical Center in the Twin Cities with serious injuries.
