GLENCOE -- BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector will try to improve on last year's sixth-place finish in the Class AA state tournament, returning after knocking off Litchfield 30-23 in the Section 5AA championship Saturday night.
BOLD/Buffalo Lake-Hector will open the state tournament March 2 against Central Lakes Conference champion Little Falls (24-4) at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
BBLH (24-5) reached the semifinals with a 34-18 win over New London-Spicer, while Litchfield advanced after upending Annandale/-Maple Lake 32-29.
BBLH led 24-23 with two matches remaining in the championship dual, Brian Hagen then won an 11-9 decision at 215 pounds and heavyweight Ben Aaseth sealed the match with a 10-4 decision.
Litchfield led 3-0 after Mike Knisley's overtime win at 103 pounds. Pat LeVasseur gave BBLH the lead after a major decision at 112, but the Dragons came right back to regain the advantage after Reed Wimmer's major decision at 119.

The lead continued to switch hands with BBLH taking a 12-7 lead after consecutive major decisions by Ross Neubauer at 125 and Chris Harmon at 130.
Litchfield then built a 16-12 lead with Beau Penk getting a second-period pin at 135 pounds and David Malepsy following with a decision at 140.
BBLH then notched consecutive wins with Mark Revier getting a technical fall at 145 and Jon Kramer a decision at 152, giving the Warriors a 20-16 lead they would not relinquish.
Litchfield cut it to 20-17 on Jared Flemming's decision at 160. Tom Elfering of BBLH at 171 and Dustin Celander of Litchfield at 189 exchanged major decisions before Hagen and Aaseth put the finishing touches on BBLH's win.

Canby wins 4A title; earns 25th state trip
DAWSON -- Canby earned its 25th trip to the state tournament Saturday, clipping Yellow Medicine East 35-17 in the championship of Section 4A.
Canby, which won titles in 1976, '77, '79, '86, '89 and '95, was the Class A state runner-up last season.
The Lancers topped Minneota 44-16 in the semifinals and Yellow Medicine East drubbed Dawson-Boyd 41-13 in its semifinal match.
Canby rallied from deficits of 8-3 and 14-12, winning six of the final seven weights, The Lancers got pins from Jon Verhelst at 130 pounds and Logan Oellien at 160.
