NEW LONDON -- An early showdown of West Central North Conference leaders couldn't have been tighter, going down to the last match with Minnewaska squeaking out a 28-27 win over New London-Spicer Tuesday.

At heavyweight, the Lakers' Frank Martin decisioned Blake Johnson 8-3 for the winning points.

Back-to-back victories by Andrew Blomker at 189 pounds and Ryane Clark at 215 vaulted the Wildcats from a 18-25 hole into a 27-25 lead with one match left.

Chad Henle at 112, Luke Reiter at 125 and Blomker had pins for NLS; the Lakers got a pin from Dan Braaten at 140 while winning 8 of the 14 matches.

Minnewaska is now 3-0 in the WCN while NLS dropped to 3-1.
