SAUK RAPIDS -- Willmar failed to hold on to an early lead as Sauk Rapids rallied to keep the Cardinals winless by collecting a 39-33 win Thursday in a Central Lakes Conference wrestling dual.
The Cardinals (0-2, 0-4) won four of the first five matches to stake themselves to a 15-6 lead. Seth Pollock received a forfeit at 103 pounds before Alex Johannes at 112, Adam Fagerstrom at 125 and Nick Braun at 130 won decisions for Willmar.
Sauk Rapids (1-1, 3-4) then won the next four matches (135-152) by fall to take a 30-15 lead.
Willmar later got pins from Cody Stegeman at 160 and Nick DeVries at 215 before heavyweight Lucas Kremer closed out the dual by winning by forfeit.
The Cardinals are off until hosting Sartell next Friday.
