OLIVIA — There were five new COVID-19 cases reported in Renville County on Sunday, the largest increase in the local area, outside of Stearns County. That brings the total for Renville County up to 24.
There was also one new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kandiyohi County in Sunday's state report, bringing the total confirmed cases among residents of the county to 565.
Other county increases in the region were 34 new cases in Stearns and two in Yellow Medicine County.
Statewide there are 523 new cases for a total of 35,549 with 3,585 of them being health care workers.
There were eight additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, for a current total of 1,425.
Most of the deaths, 1,123, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities and 1,159 of the deaths were 70 years or older.
Statewide, there are 288 COVID patients currently in hospitals, 143 of them being treated in ICUs.
The Minnesota Department of Health is also reporting that 30,809 of the state's reported positive cases no longer need to self-isolate.
So far in Minnesota, there have been approximately 585,417 completed tests since Jan. 20.
The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.
