OLIVIA — Over the weekend, the Minnesota Department of Health reported only one new COVID-19 case in Kandiyohi County. However, Chippewa County's total grew by four and Renville County went up five. Chippewa now stands at 74 and Renville County has 24.

Yellow Medicine County increased to 27 positive cases, with an increase of 2. Kandiyohi County has 565 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.

The information is included in the Minnesota Department of Health daily situation updates, released at 11 a.m. daily.

Statewide there were 427 new cases reported on Saturday and 523 reported Sunday for a new cumulative total of 35,549 with 3,585 of them being health care workers.

There were 14 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19 over the weekend, for a current total of 1,425.

Most of the deaths, 1,123, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities and 1,159 of the deaths were 70 years or older.

Statewide, there are 288 COVID patients currently in hospitals, 143 of them being treated in ICUs.

The Minnesota Department of Health is also reporting that 30,809 of the state's reported positive cases no longer need to self-isolate.

So far in Minnesota, there have been approximately 585,417 completed tests since Jan. 20.

  • Big Stone County: 14
  • Chippewa County: 74
  • Kandiyohi County: 565
  • Lac qui Parle County: 4
  • Meeker County: 57
  • Pope County: 10
  • Redwood County: 14
  • Renville County: 24
  • Stearns County: 2,200
  • Swift County: 20
  • Yellow Medicine County: 27
