WILLMAR — There were nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Kandiyohi County in Friday's state report, bringing the total confirmed cases among residents of the county to 662.

Chippewa County reported one additional case, Pope County had three, Renville County had two and Stearns County had 28 additional cases.

Statewide there are 779 new cases for a total of 54,463 with 6,259 of them being health care workers.

There were six additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, for a current total of 1,600.

Most of the deaths, 1,223, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities and 1,287 of the deaths were 70 years or older.

The report indicates that several congregate care facilities reported a COVID-19 exposure. Exposure is defined as a person diagnosed with COVID-19 who either visited, worked, or lived at a congregate care facility while they were contagious.

The facilities in the region include Brookside Senior Living in Chippewa County, Bethesda Grand and Copperleaf Senior Living in Kandiyohi County, Augustana Care Lakeside Campus in Meeker County and CentraCare Health Sauk Centre and Skylight Gardens Assisted Living in Stearns County.

Facilities that have not reported a new exposure for a minimum of 28 days will be removed and if a facility identifies a new exposure they will be listed again. This list is updated every Friday.

Statewide, there are 312 COVID patients currently in hospitals, 151 of them being treated in ICUs.

The Minnesota Department of Health is also reporting that 47,289 of the state's reported positive cases no longer need to self-isolate.

So far in Minnesota, there have been approximately 1,024,916 completed tests since Jan. 20.

The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

  • Pope County: 38
  • Redwood County: 30
  • Renville County: 56
  • Stearns County: 2,791
  • Swift County: 51
  • Yellow Medicine County: 47
