WILLMAR — Lac qui Parle, Redwood and Stearns counties each reported a new death attributed to COVID-19, according to Tuesday's state report.

These were the first COVID-19-related deaths reported in Lac qui Parle and Redwood counties but Tuesday marks the 24th death in Stearns County.

For Lac qui Parle, the death was in the 55-59 age group; Redwood County was in the 95-99 age group; Stearns was in the 85-89 age group.

There were four new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Kandiyohi County, and the total confirmed cases among residents of the county sits at 936.

Regionally, Meeker County reported four new cases, bringing its total to 187; Redwood County reported two new cases, bringing its total to 144; Big Stone, Chippewa and Renville counties each reported one new case, and their confirmed county totals sit at 71, 198 and 136, respectively.

Stearns County was again in double digits with 20 newly reported cases.

Statewide there are 513 new cases for a total of 91,422 with 9,776 of them being health care workers.

There were a total of 10 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Tuesday's report, for a current total of 1,979.

Most of the deaths, 1,430, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, and 1,579 of the deaths were 70 years or older.

Statewide, there are 290 COVID patients currently in hospitals, 136 of them being treated in ICUs.

The Minnesota Department of Health is also reporting that 82,833 of the state's reported positive cases no longer need to self-isolate.

So far in Minnesota, there have been approximately 1,863,694 completed tests of approximately 1,317,433 people since Jan. 20.

The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

The current number of COVID-19 cases among residents confirmed to reside in area counties and the change from the previous day's report includes:

  • Big Stone County: 71, up 1
  • Chippewa County: 198, up 1
  • Kandiyohi County: 936, up 3
  • Lac qui Parle County: 47
  • Meeker County: 187, up 4
  • Pope County: 89
  • Redwood County: 144, up 2
  • Renville County: 136
  • Stearns County: 3,833, up 21
  • Swift County: 123
  • Yellow Medicine County: 162
