WILLMAR — There were 39 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Kandiyohi County in Thursday's state report, and a total of 143 new cases in 11 west central Minnesota counties. There were no new probable cases listed in the report.

Two deaths were reported in the area — a person in Kandiyohi County in the age range of 95-99 years and a person in Stearns County in the 70-74 age range.

Stearns County reported 60 new cases, and Chippewa County reported 10 new cases. All other new case reports were in the single digits.

Redwood County reported nine new cases; Meeker County, six; Renville County, five; Lac qui Parle and Pope counties, four each; Big Stone, two; Yellow Medicine, three; and Swift, one.

Statewide there were 1,574 newly reported confirmed cases and no newly reported probable cases.

That brings the state's cumulative total to 128,152, which includes 127,828 confirmed and 324 probable cases.

Of the cumulative number of cases, 13,006 of them are health care workers.

Statewide there were 20 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, for a current total of 2,289 deaths from confirmed cases and 12 from probable cases.

Most of the deaths, 1,621, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, and 1,839 of the people who died were 70 or older.

The Minnesota Department of Health is also reporting that 113,976 of the state's reported positive cases no longer need to self-isolate.

So far in Minnesota, there have been approximately 2,587,268 completed tests, including 2,564,491 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and 22,777 antigen tests. And approximately 1,722,573 people have been tested since Jan. 20.

The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

The current number of COVID-19 cases among residents confirmed to reside in area counties includes:

  • Big Stone County: 131
  • Chippewa County: 414, 1 probable
  • Kandiyohi County: 1,638, 1 probable
  • Lac qui Parle County: 130
  • Meeker County: 318
  • Pope County: 152
  • Redwood County: 260
  • Renville County: 231, 6 probable
  • Stearns County: 5,505, 41 probable
  • Swift County: 193
  • Yellow Medicine County: 270, 1 probable
