WILLMAR — Swift and Renville counties each reported COVID-19 deaths along with Stearns County reporting three new deaths in Wednesday's state report.

Swift County's death was in the 80-84 age range, Renville County's death was in the 90-94 age range and Stearns County's deaths were in the 70-74, 80-84 and 85-89 age ranges.

Locally, Kandiyohi County reported 31 new confirmed cases, Big Stone County reported 10, Chippewa County reported three, Lac qui Parle reported one new confirmed case, Meeker reported four, Redwood reported 10, Renville County reported four new confirmed cases, Swift County reported one and Yellow Medicine reported three. Stearns County reported 91 new confirmed cases and three probable cases.

The state recently began reporting probable cases based on antigen testing. Confirmed cases are based on polymerase chain reaction tests.

Statewide there were 1,804 newly reported confirmed cases and 112 newly reported probable cases.

That brings the state's cumulative total to 139,444, which includes 138,944 confirmed and 500 probable cases.

Of the cumulative number of cases, 13,938 of them are health care workers.

There were 19 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, for a current total of 2,387 deaths — 2,373 from confirmed cases and 14 from probable cases.

Most of the deaths, 1,669, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, and 1,909 of the deaths were 70 years or older.

The Minnesota Department of Health is also reporting that 123,529 of the state's reported positive cases no longer need to self-isolate.

So far in Minnesota, there have been approximately 2,739,997 completed tests, including 2,713,077 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and 26,920 antigen tests. And approximately 1,801,004 people have been tested since Jan. 20.

The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.
