WILLMAR — Only Stearns County in west central Minnesota reported more than single-digit numbers of new COVID-19 cases in Tuesday's state report.

There were no deaths reported in the counties tracked by the West Central Tribune.

Stearns County had 28 confirmed and four probable cases in the daily update. Meeker County had eight confirmed cases and Kandiyohi County had seven new confirmed cases. There were four new cases in Redwood County and three in Renville County while Swift and Yellow Medicine counties each reported one new confirmed case. Lac qui Parle County reported one new probable case. Big Stone, Chippewa and Pope counties had no new confirmed or probable cases.

Statewide there were 1,245 newly reported confirmed cases and 90 newly reported probable cases. Probable cases are based on antigen testing. Confirmed cases are based on polymerase chain reaction tests.

That brings the state's cumulative total to 438,867, which includes 421,946 confirmed and 16,921 probable cases.

Of the cumulative number of cases, 34,132 of them are health care workers.

There were 13 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, for a current total of 5,521 deaths from confirmed cases and 203 from probable cases.

Of the deaths, 3,660 have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, and 4,749 of the deaths were 70 years or older.

The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

Since the start of the pandemic, the number of COVID-19 cases among residents confirmed to reside in area counties and the number of deaths includes:

  • Big Stone County: 441 confirmed, 9 probable; 3 deaths
  • Chippewa County: 1,268 confirmed, 35 probable; 31 deaths
  • Kandiyohi County: 5,437 confirmed, 51 probable; 69 deaths

  • Lac qui Parle County: 594 confirmed, 54 probable; 16 deaths
  • Meeker County: 1,938 confirmed, 29 probable; 33 deaths
  • Pope County: 724 confirmed, 8 probable, 5 deaths
  • Redwood County: 1,335 confirmed, 31 probable; 27 deaths
  • Renville County: 1,303 confirmed, 51 probable; 39 deaths
  • Stearns County: 17,029 confirmed, 571 probable; 179 deaths
  • Swift County: 799 confirmed, 22 probable, 17 deaths
  • Yellow Medicine County: 856 confirmed, 65 probable, 14 deaths

The state is now also reporting daily vaccine administration numbers. The vaccine is not yet available to the general public. Health care workers and long-term care facility residents are the priority populations currently.

As of Tuesday’s report, 144,503 people have received one dose and 7,392 have completed the two-shot vaccine series statewide.

According to the figures available Tuesday, the number of individuals who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine in area counties includes:

  • Big Stone: 363

  • Chippewa: 419

  • Kandiyohi: 1,194

  • Lac qui Parle: 315

  • Meeker: 436

  • Pope: 471

  • Redwood: 433

  • Renville: 509

  • Stearns: 3,441

  • Swift: 337

  • Yellow Medicine: 444

The vaccine data web page is updated at 11 a.m. daily, but it can take up to 48 hours for data to be reported to the state and processed.
