WILLMAR — All 11 west central Minnesota counties tracked by the West Central Tribune reported additional cases of COVID-19 Tuesday.

There were a total of 64 new cases in the region, with Stearns County reporting 37 and Big Stone, Kandiyohi and Meeker counties each adding five new cases.

Renville County reported three additional cases; Pope, Redwood and Yellow Medicine counties each had two new cases; and Chippewa, Lac qui Parle and Swift counties each had one.

Statewide there were 1,189 newly reported cases and five deaths.

The state's cumulative number of cases is now 558,850.

Of the cumulative number of cases, 40,598 of them have been among health care workers.

The state’s current total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is now at 7,031. Most of the deaths, 4,337, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities, and 5,794 of the people who died were 70 or older.

The information was included in the latest daily situation update from the Minnesota Department of Health, released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

Since the start of the pandemic, the number of COVID-19 cases among residents confirmed to reside in area counties and the number of deaths includes:

  • Big Stone County: 570 cases; 4 deaths

  • Chippewa County: 1,468 cases; 37 deaths

  • Kandiyohi County: 6,300 cases; 81 deaths

  • Lac qui Parle County: 737 cases; 22 deaths

  • Meeker County: 2,386 cases; 37 deaths

  • Pope County: 1,033 cases; 6 deaths

  • Redwood County: 1,666 cases; 35 deaths

  • Renville County: 1,728 cases; 43 deaths

  • Stearns County: 21,146 cases; 219 deaths

  • Swift County: 1,001 cases; 18 deaths

  • Yellow Medicine County: 1,111 cases; 19 deaths

The state is now also reporting daily vaccine administration numbers. As of Tuesday’s report, 2,304,975 people have received at least one dose and 1,630,999 have completed the vaccine series statewide, approximately 52 percent of the eligible population of 16 years and up.

The percent of eligible people — those age 16 and over — who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine in area counties ranges from 42 percent in Meeker County to 63 percent in Big Stone County. To date, 45 percent of eligible residents in Kandiyohi County have had at least one dose of the vaccine.

According to the figures available Tuesday, the number of individuals who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine in area counties includes:

  • Big Stone: 2,571

  • Chippewa: 4,591

  • Kandiyohi: 15,189

  • Lac qui Parle: 2,970

  • Meeker: 7,577

  • Pope: 4,606

  • Redwood: 5,402

  • Renville: 5,687

  • Stearns: 57,693

  • Swift: 4,014

  • Yellow Medicine: 4,179

The vaccine data web page is updated at 11 a.m. daily, but it can take up to 48 hours for data to be reported to the state and processed.
