WILLMAR Carris Health and its parent CentraCare have implemented visitor restrictions again at several facilities due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the area.

Cases and hospitalizations have been rising across the state in the past two months because of the highly-contagious delta variant.

The restrictions went into effect Sept. 21.

One healthy adult visitor will be allowed per patient in CentraCare and Carris Health hospital settings, including at Carris Health-Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. The visitor must be the same person.

It’s an update to the previous policy allowing two healthy adult visitors. For minor patients, two healthy adult visitors will still be allowed.

In other settings, including clinics, one healthy adult visitor per adult and two healthy adult visitors for minors will be allowed. Additional minors, besides the patient, are not allowed.

All visitors must wear face masks.

The new guidelines do not apply to the company’s long-term care facilities because of different regulations for vulnerable populations.

“We understand these changes will have a big impact on patients and their families,” the companies said in a news release. “We appreciate the support from the community as we implement these changes to keep patients and staff safe.”

COVID-19 vaccinations are available to anyone 12 and older at CentraCare and Carris Health primary care clinic locations. Call CentraCare Connect at 320-200-3200 to schedule an appointment.
