Kandiyohi County reports two new cases of COVID-19

Kandiyohi County currently has 428 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and increase of only two from yesterday.

WILLMAR — There were two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Kandiyohi County in Thursday's state report, bringing the total confirmed cases among residents of the county to 428.

Statewide there are 539 new cases for a total of 18,200 with 2,120 of them being health care workers.

Swift and Chippewa counties each had one new case. Stearns County had 19 new cases for a total of 1,853.

There were 32 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, for a current total of 809.

Most of the deaths, 663, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities.

Statewide, there are 566 COVID patients currently in hospitals, 229 of them being treated in ICUs.

The Minnesota Department of Health is also reporting that 12,448 of the state's reported positive cases no longer need to self-isolate.

So far in Minnesota, there have been approximately 173,556 completed tests since Jan. 20.

The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update , released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

The current number of confirmed COVID-19 cases for area counties includes:

Big Stone County: 3

Chippewa County: 37

Kandiyohi County: 428

Renville County: 5

Stearns County: 1,853

Swift County: 14

Yellow Medicine County: 5
