One new case of COVID-19 in Kandiyohi County

There was one new case of COVID-19 reported in Kandiyohi County in Friday's state report. Increases were also reported in five area counties.

WILLMAR — There was one new confirmed case of COVID-19 reported in Kandiyohi County in Friday's state report, bringing the total confirmed cases among residents of the county to 554.

Other area counties saw their numbers inch up.

Chippewa County reported two new cases, Lac qui Parle County had one new case, Meeker County had two new cases, Stearns County had five and Yellow Medicine reported three new cases.

Statewide there are 362 new cases for a cumulative total of 32,031 with 3,327 of them being health care workers.

There were 17 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, for a current total of 1,361

Most of the deaths, 1,077, have occurred in long-term care or assisted living facilities and 1,113 of the deaths were 70 years or older.

Statewide, there are 339 COVID-19 patients currently in hospitals, 168 of them being treated in ICUs.

The Minnesota Department of Health is also reporting that 27,709 of the state's reported positive cases no longer need to self-isolate.

So far in Minnesota, there have been approximately 475,152 completed tests since Jan. 20.

The information was included in the latest Minnesota Department of Health daily situation update , released at 11 a.m. daily. The data released are current as of 4 p.m. the day before.

The current number of confirmed COVID-19 cases for area counties includes:

Big Stone County: 14

Chippewa County: 64

Redwood County: 12

Renville County: 12

Stearns County: 2,126

Swift County: 20
