Workplace accident

WILLMAR — The Willmar Police Department and Willmar Ambulance were called to the construction site on the westside of Kandi Mall after a report of a worker being injured at about 12:45 p.m. Friday.

According to Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt a 60-year old male from Carthage, Missouri, a construction worker on the job, was injured when trusses fell on him. He was extricated by his co-workers with equipment on scene.

The individual was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Felt said the man's condition is unknown but he looked to have suffered a leg injury and possibly a back injury.


HANLEY FALLS — A Willmar woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on state Highway 23 near Hanley Falls.

According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, a car driven by Mariah Pamela Skjefte, 24, of Marshall, and minivan driven by Loralee Faye Herboldt, 65, of Willmar, collided at the intersection of Highway 23 and Yellow Medicine County Road 18.

Skjefte was driving east on County Road 18 and Herboldt was driving north on Highway 23, according to the report.

Herboldt was transported to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Skjefte was uninjured. Both were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not believed to be a factor, according to the State Patrol report.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene.


SPICER — The theft of an Alumacraft boat, gray with blue stripes, was reported at about 11 a.m. Friday in the 2100 block of 105th Avenue Northwest. The boat has a 2006 60 hp, 4-stroke Mercury outboard. The value was estimated at $7,000.


WILLMAR — A fraudulent $100 bill, marked "for motion picture use only," was used by a customer at the Green Mill, 2100 Highway 12 East. The fraud was noticed when the money was taken to the bank. The fraud was reported at 11:12 a.m.
