BOLD thumps Tri-Town in title game
REDWOOD FALLS - BOLD needed to go to a second game but defeated Tri-Town to win the Legion Division II Central Sub-District championship on Sunday.
Tri-Town, which came back through the loser's bracket, forced a second game for the title with a 5-1 win over BOLD in Sunday's first game.
BOLD rebounded for a 12-0 championship-clinching win in Sunday's second game. BOLD knocked Tri-Town into the loser's bracket with a 5-3 win over the Black Sox on Saturday.
BOLD moves on to play New London-Spicer in a best two-of-three series in the Central Sub-State semifinals. The first game is 7 p.m. Tuesday in Spicer, and the second game is 6 p.m. Thursday in Bird Island. A third game, if needed, will follow Thursday's game in Bird Island.

BOLD wrapped up the sub-district title with five runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Jordan Sagedahl mashed, finishing with three hits, including two doubles, and six runs batted in.
Stadther got the win with a five-hitter.
Tri-Town's Josh Kingery took the loss but had two of the Black Sox' five hits.

Kobe Holtz hit two solo home runs and Noah Cunningham and Josh Kingery both doubled as Tri-Town won an elimination game to force a winner-take-all second game on Sunday.
Josh Kinzler worked five innings to get the win and Cunningham was perfect over the final two innings.

Jack Peppel hit a three-run homer in the third inning and BOLD tacked on runs in the fourth and sixth innings to down Tri-Town in the sub-district semifinals on Saturday.
Luke Ryan and Hayden Tersteeg with a two hits and Tersteeg and Jordan Sagedahl both drove in runs.
Sagedahl went the distance to get the win.

Madison rallied to tie the game in the sixth but Kerkhoven put up five runs in the seventh to hold off Madison in the Central Sub-District tournament.
Kerkhoven's Caleb Collins, Regan Carlson, Dylan Rudningen and Cade Melin all had two hits and drove in runs, and Brandon Rasmusson doubled and drove in three runs.

Willmar won its third straight game and enters the Northwood League All-Star break in first in the Northern Division after Sunday's victory in St. Cloud.
The Stingers are 13-5 in the second half and lead La Crosse (13-6) by a half-game. The Stingers vaulted into first place by taking three of four from La Crosse last week and winning two against St. Cloud over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Stingers trailed St. Cloud by a run after seven innings, but they scored four in the eighth inning on Eli Wilson's sacrifice fly, a Rox error, Jayson Newman's RBI double and a wild pitch.
Newman, who homered, doubled and drove in two runs, made his offensive production hold up on the mound. Newman worked 1-2/3 innings of hitless relief to earn a save. Jonathan McKinney got the win.
The Stingers are off Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the NWL All-Star Game break. The All-Star Game is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Willmar outfielder Tyler Reichenborn and right-hander Ben Mora are the team's North Division representatives.
Reichenborn and Stingers teammate Caleb Ricca will compete in the NWL Home Run Derby prior to Tuesday's All-Star Game.

John Trousdale's run-scoring double in the bottom of the 14th inning gave Willmar the victory in a 4-hour, 55-minute marathon on Saturday night—and Sunday morning—at Bill Taunton Stadium.
In the 14th, Tyler Reichenborn reached on an error and came around on Trousdale's double.
The Stingers kept the game alive after St. Cloud scored in the top of the 12th. In the bottom of the inning, Eric Yang singled and Reichenborn pinch ran for him. Reichenborn reached third on Eli Wilson's single and scored the tying run on Shea Kramer's sacrifice fly.
Willmar's Michael Cartwright, the last of nine Stinger pitchers to work in the game, got the win. He worked the 14th inning, allowing a hit and striking out two.
