No injuries reported in Montevideo school bus accident on snowy roads

MONTEVIDEO - A bus transporting Montevideo Public Schools students slid into a ditch Friday afternoon. There were no serious injuries.

According to a news release from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, the bus was on Chippewa County Road 34 about a mile north of the intersection with County Road 9. The bus reportedly lost control on snowy, icy roads and slid into the road ditch sideways. The bus tipped on its driver's side before tipping back and coming to rest on its wheels.

Six children were on the bus at the time, and no injuries were reported beyond minor aches, according to the release.

Those on the bus were transported to Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital as a precaution.

Montevideo Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.

The accident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office. The Patrol will be conducting a commercial vehicle inspection, according to the release.

Authorities respond to numerous snow-related crashes

WILLMAR - Numerous vehicle crashes were reported in the area Friday and Saturday, due to snow and ice on the roads.

More than 20 minor crashes were reported just in Willmar and Kandiyohi County, according to initial complaint reports from the weekend.

A young Willmar woman died in a crash Friday afternoon in Grove City in the worst crash reported in west central Minnesota.

Most of the others led to minor injuries or none at all.

At least a half dozen cars ended up in the ditch. Others collided when a driver was unable to stop on a slippery road. They ran into other cars, light poles or traffic signs.


WILLMAR - A man reported Saturday afternoon that his small drone had been stolen in the 700 block of 19th Avenue Southeast.
