LONGVILLE, Minn. -- The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a death on Louise Lake on Tuesday afternoon, just 24 hours after it responded to a similar situation on Leech Lake.

At 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, officials received a call of a “possible drowning” of an adult man in rural Longville, in Wabedo Township. Longville is roughly 60 miles southeast of Bemidji.

Although there’s also a Louise Lake in Blind Lake Township, Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch clarified that the area they found the man’s body is off of Highway 54 in the area between Little Boy Lake and Wabedo Lake.

According to a news release, the deceased man was found in the lake near a fishing boat. First responders declared the man dead at the scene. The man’s identity is being withheld until his family can be notified.

His body will be sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The sheriff’s office is investigating the death in conjunction with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

On Monday, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an unresponsive woman at Woodland Resort on Leech Lake’s Kabekona Bay, roughly 30 miles southeast of Bemidji.
