WILLMAR —Anglers and others venturing out on ice-covered lakes are advised that aeration systems will begin operating on January 12 on some lakes in Kandiyohi County. The systems create open water and thin ice and areas near the aerators should be avoided.
Kandiyohi County reported that aeration systems will begin operating on: The Crow River and Ringo Lake in New London Township; Long Lake and Solomon Lake in Dovre Township; Swenson Lake in Arctander Township and Whitefield Townships; and Lake Elizabeth in Lake Elizabeth Township. Weather conditions may cause the areas of thin ice and open water to fluctuate greatly.
Aeration systems are also permitted on Star Lake in Meeker County, Artichoke Lake in Swift County, and Wood Lake in Yellow Medicine County.
