Elaine Bernice Gustafson

Elaine Bernice Gustafson, 95, of Willmar, died Tuesday, November 6th at Bethesda Club Suites in Willmar. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 10th, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to Bethel Lutheran Church, Rice Hospice or donor's choice. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Bernice was born to Arthur and Lillie (Peterson) Anderson on January 29, 1923, in Minneapolis. She grew up in south Minneapolis where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. Bernice married the love of her life, Arthur Malcolm Gustafson, on September 8, 1950. To this union three children were born: Ruth, Mark and Daniel. After graduating from high school, she worked for Minneapolis Moline as a bookkeeper prior to moving to Rockford, IL, for the same company. She would later work for Duluth and Litchfield schools as a paraprofessional and Mt.Carroll Mutual Insurance Company. Bernice loved gardening, entertaining and traveling. She and Art even traveled to Sweden twice. They would also winter down in Arizona and Florida. As the children grew up Bernice was active in Girl and Boy Scouts and PTA. She was active her whole life in the church. After moving to Willmar, she enjoyed the Swedish Club. She was passionate about music and enjoyed going to concerts and symphonies. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandma and friend.

Bernice is survived by her children: Ruth (Steve) Joramo of Litchfield, Mark (Su) of Lake Geneva, WI, and Daniel (Linda) of Maple Grove; grandchildren: Jennifer (Warren), Kathryn (fianc, Tim), Sarah (fianc, Travis); great-grandchildren: Cassandra, Mackenzie, MaKenzie, Alyssa, Tanner, and Ava Grace; and great-great-grandchildren: Jack and Elody.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Malcolm, parents, Arthur and Lillie, brother, Donald, granddaughter, Rebekah Kristin and great-grandchild, Chloe Elaine.
