Mary Ann was born November 22, 1940, in Willmar, MN, the daughter of Peter and Gladys (DeLong) Kubesh. She grew up in Olivia where she was baptized and confirmed at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and graduated from Olivia High School in 1958.
She was united in marriage to Richard Wallace and later divorced before marrying Fredrick Bacon.
After moving to Willmar, Mary Ann worked for the State of Minnesota at the state hospital in the dietary department as an aide and cook for 28 years before retiring in 2006. She then worked for the Kandiyohi County Jail for a number of years.
Mary Ann could never sit still, always working, and helping others with her big heart. Any one who knew her knew that she was as independent as they come, who enjoyed old time country music, loved all animals but especially her dogs, had a good sense of humor and was always willing to take a trip somewhere. More than anything, spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with them was her most precious moments in life.
Her faith endured many events throughout her life and she was a prayer warrior for her family. She taught her family, God first, family second and friends third.
Surviving are her children: Debra Birkeland of Sauk Rapids; Lon Wallace of Willmar and Jennifer Schoumaker of Willmar; five grandchildren: Shawn, David, Jason, Mikayla and Mackenzie and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Jolene Rusch of Dassel and brother, Peter (and Karen) Kubesh of Maplewood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fredrick on August 4, 1980, and son, Lea.
