July 31, 1948 - July 4, 2019 Alice was born in Willmar, MN to Olaf and Frances (Dougherty) Nelson. While growing up on the family farm, she walked to country school and developed her work ethic. She will be missed by her Atwater Class of 1966 with whom she enjoyed having lunch regularly. She worked for the O’Brian family of St. Paul, 3M, and Madden Lodge. Her life was forever changed July 1969 when she joined Northwest/Delta Airline. Her flight attendant family traveled the world with Alice, making an adventure of every trip and life long memories. Alice was one of the first volunteer flight crew to fly out of Mpls. after 911. She retired in Sept. 2011 but not from world travel. Grateful for sharing over 40 years of her love and life is husband Laurel Gulbranson. Together they traveled from Newfoundland to Belize to Oregon and all places in between. God called Alice to take the greatest travel experience ever on July 4, 2019 while on a road trip with Laurel. Alice will be remembered for her sense of fashion, love of flowers and art. She is survived by her husband Laurel, sister Jane Andersen, nieces Jackie (Chad) Van Slooten and sons, Traci (Jason) Reese and sons along with extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Connie Schultz and other family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at Basilica of St Mary, Mpls, MN Aug 9, 2019 at 11:00 with visitation one hour prior. A private family burial will be Aug 10, 2019 in Atwater. For those who wish to extend condolences, Atwater Bethlehem Lutheran Church will host an informal gathering at 12:30 p.m. Aug 10. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to donor’s choice. God bless the memory of Alice I. Nelson.
