David Robert Engwall, 85, of Willmar, died Saturday, May 15th at Carris Health Rice Hospital in Willmar. His funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 18th at Living Hope – Evangelical Free Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org

David Robert Engwall was born October 30, 1935, to Carl and Ada (Parsons) Engwall in Svea. He attended country school near Svea until the 8th grade. Due to his father and brother passing at a young age, David took over the family farm when he was 13 years old. He would later earn his GED, which was very important to him. After his family sold the farm, David worked at Lindell Motors in Willmar before he joined the National Guard. He served in the National Guard from 1953-1980. On June 30, 1957, David was united in marriage to Judy Isenberg they lived in Willmar, Atwater and New London. On November 16, 1979, David married Mary Anne Wigen. They lived in New London where they continued to live until her passing on August 20, 2004. David later met Barb (Ruis) Gimse and they married on May 27, 2006, and lived in Willmar. David drove chartered bus for Riley’s and after he retired, he was a curtesy driver for Mills Part center until his stroke in 2012. David enjoyed deer hunting, hunting raccoons with his dogs and had several horses which he enjoyed riding. He even trained his dogs for raccoon hunting competitions. He also enjoyed riding motorcycle which he started doing when he was in his teens. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend.

David is survived by his wife, Barb Engwall; daughter: Brenda (Leon) Jordan of Tucson, AZ; step-daughters: Kryss Grant of Willmar, Jeanne (Richard) Jennum of Anoka, Ann (Jeremy) Furr of Jeffersonton, VA, and Debra (Jeff) Hoyt of Brooklyn Park; grandchildren: David and Chrisman Swanson, great-granddaughter, Salome Swanson; 9 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Dorothy Caine and Ruth Carlson.

He was preceded in death by wives: Judy and Mary Anne; his parents; and siblings: Lloyd and Paul Engwall and Ruby Miller.
