Delores J. Emberland, age 90, of Willmar, died Thursday, June 11, at her home in Willmar.

A private family graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. A public memorial service is planned for a later date. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org.

Delores Joy Emberland was born September 8, 1929, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Walter and Bernice (Bjur) Jorgenson. She was a proud lifelong resident of Willmar’s north side. She attended Lafeyette Elementary School and graduated from Willmar High School in 1947. On June 4, 1949, she married Gordon Emberland at her mother’s home in Willmar. Delores and Gordy built a home together on Willmar’s north side, where Delores resided for the past 57 years.

Delores worked as a shipping clerk for Molenaar Inc. in Willmar for 30 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of First Covenant Church in Willmar and was part of the serving committee and helped served Wednesday night supper. She was also active in bowling league, and enjoyed playing bocce ball, croquet, card games and Yahtzee.

She is survived by five daughters: Jolene (and Jeffrey) Hahn of Clinton, NJ, Laurie (and Danny) Shephard of Brunswick, GA, and Jill (and Charles) Alexander, Mary Beckman, and Jane Emberland, all of Willmar, MN. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren: Jay Gilbertson, Michael Hahn, Annie (and Ryan) Salner, Paula (and Blake) Hoena, Adam (and Mandy) Shepard, Lee (and Linda) Shepard, Melissa (and John) Davis, Christina Clark, Elizabeth Clark, Aaron Emberland, Denise Bruinsma, Jane Beekman, and Angie (and Cass) Magnuson; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Elaine Meshriy of LaVerne, CA; a brother: Rodger (and Helen) Jorgenson of Rockton, IL; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Gordon Emberland in 1986; a son: Dave Emberland in 2005; a daughter-in-law: Diane Emberland in 2018; two brothers: Bud and Ron; and two sisters: Lavone and Marvis.
