Dennis E. Bauman

Dennis Bauman, 80, of Willmar, formerly of the Raymond/Kerkhoven area, died Saturday, July 4th at Prairie Senior Cottages in Willmar. There will be a visitation from 5-7 pm, Sunday, July 12th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. A family service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 13th at Bethel Baptist Church in Kerkhoven with interment in Hillside Cemetery.

Dennis was born March 15, 1940, in Willmar, the youngest son of seven children, of Edward and Eleanora (Fanberg) Bauman. He grew up on the farm and graduated Kerkhoven High School in 1958. He attended Bethel College for one year before returning to home to begin farming with his dad on the home farm in Woods Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota. In 1961 he began six years of service in the Army National Guard, receiving his basic training at Fort Ord, CA.

In December of 1965, Dennis was united in marriage to Barbara Johnson in Russell, MN. They continued farming the home farm. They were blessed with one son and Barbara passed away on October 17, 1967.

Dennis loved farming and the first day of field work in the spring was always “a very good day,” no matter the weather. He was blessed to be able to live and farm his whole life on his home place.

In 1969 Dennis married Rosemary Koch in Davenport, IA, and they were blessed with a son and daughter.

He was a lifelong active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Kerkhoven, where he served as an usher, and was on the Board of Trustees. He was an active member of Kerkhoven Lions Club and served on the Woods Township Board.

When he was semi-retired from farming, he enjoyed a part-time job doing transport for employees of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He also enjoyed many family trips to Gooding, ID, where he was thrilled with the beauty of the western United States and was able to visit his brother, Glenn, and family.

Dennis was a patient and loving son, husband, father and grandfather and will be missed greatly.

Surviving are his wife, Rosemary; children: Kevin (and Mary) Bauman of Raymond; Kent (and Melanie) Bauman and Denise (and Ross) Rekedal, both of Willmar; six grandchildren: Amanda (and Brody) Lindquist, Wendy (and fiancé, Devon Osman) Bauman, Brady Bauman, Tanner Bauman, Erin Rekedal, and Ethan Rekedal. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Pat Bauman of Clara City.

In addition to his first wife, Barbara, Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Earl, Russell, Evelyn Weiland, Gladys Peterson, Lloyd and Glenn.
