Ed was born August 9,1935, in Madelia, MN, the son of Edwin and Margaret (Hattrem) Setrum. In 1941, the family moved to Willmar where he graduated from Willmar High School in 1953.

In 1954, Ed was united in marriage to Janet Hougen in Watertown, SD. To this union seven children were born. Ed worked as an inspector for MnDOT, retiring in 1998 after 34 years. He couldn’t stay away though as he was called back to MnDOT for a few years before working for Duininck Inc for a year.

He was united in marriage to Noelle Swanson on April 21, 1978, in Watertown, SD. They lived in Willmar following their marriage. Not only did he work for MnDOT, he and Noelle opened Our Frame Shop and Gallery in 1982, operating it until 1998 when they sold it to their son, Eric. In 1998 they moved to Arkansas, and he worked for the community rec center. They returned to Willmar in 2016.

Ed was a perfectionist in all that he did, whether it was inspecting roads, building frames, working as a pool boy in Arkansas, or remodeling one of their children’s homes. It had to be done correctly. He was an avid bowler, bowling more than one perfect game, and competed in many tournaments in not only the area but the country. He enjoyed hunting and golfing as well, scoring a Hole-in-One on #5 at Valley Golf. His other hobbies included Bridge, crossword puzzles, and crypto quips.

Surviving are his wife, Noelle; children: Ginger (and Bruce) Dexter of Willmar; Kim (and Debbie) Setrum of Willmar; Toni (and Delorne “Chuck”) Carlson of DeGraff; Eric (and Lisa) Setrum of Willmar; Alan (and Kathy) Setrum of Willmar; Chris (and Corla) Setrum of Conrow, TX; Kyle (and Jenny) Setrum of Marion, IA; step-children: Paul (and Gwen) Wood of Mound, Glen (and Cindy) Wood of Wilkerson, IN, and Keith Wood of Omaha, NE; 21 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Gene (and MaryAnn) Setrum of St. Cloud; sisters-in-law, Ann Setrum of Winnebago, and Sharon Setrum of Glendale, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold and Joe, and sister, Elinor Fischer.

Ed’s family would like to thank the staff of Prairie Senior Cottages for their care and compassion for Ed over the past year. You are truly wonderful people!
