Jeanette Giinthir

Jeanette Giinthir, age 78, of Raymond, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Carris Health Care Center in Willmar.

Her memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 5, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pennock at a later date.

Jeanette Helen Giinthir was born June 7, 1942, to Ralph and Sadie (Hoogheem) Petersen, in Rheiderland Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota.  She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City.  She went to District #66, Green Meadows Country School through 6th grade and graduated from Clara City High School in 1960.

Jeanette worked at Otto’s Produce in her senior year, and after graduation she worked at Jennie-O until February 16, 1962, when she married Earl Martin Giinthir.  She then became a stay-at-home housewife until 1983, when she started working at Molenaar Plastic.  She retired on December 5, 2008.

Jeanette’s hobbies included playing games on her laptop, doing variety puzzles, crocheting, knitting, and playing Skip-Bo.

Jeanette would often remind her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to “always wear a smile because it lights up the world and will be returned in two-fold.”

She is survived by her four children: Renae Giinthir of Pennock, Bryan (Jill) Giinthir of Montevideo, Scott Giinthir of Clara City, and Robin (Gary) Mast of Willmar; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her siblilngs: Marion Mahlum of Sacred Heart and Kenneth Sr. (Sarah) Petersen of Raymond; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Earl in 2008; brother: Fred Petersen; sister:Katie Pitt; a brother in infancy; and brothers-in-law: Onell Mahlum and Marvin Pitt.
