John C. Carruth

John C. Carruth, 87, of Danvers, died Saturday, November 14, 2020. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. Burial will be in Church of the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Danvers. Public visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday November 19, 2020 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. In lieu of flowers, at John’s request, memorials will be directed towards masses in his name. Services are with the Harvey Anderson Funeral Home. www.hafh.org
John Clarence Carruth was born on November 26, 1932, to Clarence and Cecelia (Dolan) Carruth. He was baptized, made his first Holy Communion and Confirmation at the Visitation Catholic Church in Danvers. At age ten, John moved with his parents from Danvers to his farm south of Danvers. He graduated from Benson High School in 1950. On June 27, 1953, John was united in marriage to Elaine Margaret Chevalier at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff. John and Elaine were blessed with 18 children, 48 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 67 years, 5 months and 14 days of marriage.
John is survived by his wife, Elaine; children: Johnny (Cindy) Carruth of Danvers, Tom (Caye) Carruth of DeGraff, Teresa (Bob) Pelkey of Willmar, Jim (Judy) Carruth of Danvers, Mike Carruth of Binghamton, NY, Mary (Mark) Branstad of Rochester, Ann (Rick) Bell of Chatfield, Joe (Jolene) Carruth of Danvers, Pat (Tammy) Carruth of Montevideo, Bob (Therese) Carruth of St. Paul, Bill (CarolLee) Carruth of Ellendale, N.D., Dick (Kelly) Carruth of St. Cloud, Dan Carruth of Melrose, Cathy Carruth of Ramsey, Liz (Curtis) Tanabe of GrandForks, N.D., Laura (Brad) Amundson of Brainerd, Maggie (Jon) Ackman of Maple Grove, and Marie (Aaron) Knodel of Fargo N.D., grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Muriel Bright, Rita Quinn, and Janice Chevalier and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Elaine’s parents, Oliver and Sylvia Chevalier, granddaughter, Sarah Nicole Carruth, brothers-in-law; Gary Chevalier, Pete Bright, Joe Quinn, Ken Czerny and sister-in-law, Shirley Czerny.
