LaVaughn “Vonnie” VanHeuveln died peacefully on October 31, 2020 in St. Paul, MN. She is survived by her children Vince VanHeuveln of Newport, MN and Tonya (Mark) Smith of Woodbury, MN; grandsons, Matthew Smith and David (Jennifer) Smith; siblings, Lowell (Jean) of Isle MN, Eloise (Ronald) Knutson of Kerkhoven, and Donovan (Ann) Swenson of Raleigh, NC, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Earlene (Tengwall) Swenson.

Born in Pennock, MN in 1932, Vonnie grew up in the Svea area, was confirmed at the Mission Covenant Church in Willmar, graduated from Willmar High School, and married Merle VanHeuveln of Willmar in 1951. Together they served Covenant churches in the Midwest for 30 years.

LaVaughn also worked in a variety of clerical and banking positions, lastly for 20 years in property management with her son in downtown Willmar.
