Lorraine J. Hoogeveen
Lorraine J. Hoogeveen, age 88, of Willmar, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 14, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov., 18, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Central Minnesota Christian School are preferred. Lorraine Joyce Hoogeveen was born on September 2, 1932, in Prinsburg, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Roelofs) Hoogeveen. Lorraine grew up in the Prinsburg community and attended CMCS through grade 10 and then graduated from Clara City High School in 1950.
She began working at Rice Memorial Hospital in June of 1950 as a file clerk for the administration and later in the business office and medical records. Four years later she accepted a position of Medical Records Supervisor and was later appointed Director of Medical Records.
While working full time at Rice Memorial Hospital, she worked on her college education by correspondence courses and night classes. She acquired her registration as a medical records administrator in the American Health Information Management Association. In June of 1972, Lorraine completed her education at the University of Minnesota-Morris.
In 1977, Lorraine accepted a position with the Professional Services Quality Council of Minnesota located in Rochester, Minnesota. She returned to Rice Memorial Hospital four years later retaining her position as Director of Medical Records. On June 24, 1994, Lorraine retired form Rice Hospital.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, being active on many committees, playing organ as well as belonging to Mission Club.
Following retirement, Lorraine volunteered at Rice Memorial Hospital, Rice Care Center, New 2 You Thrift Store, Rice Hospice and Crossroads Prison Ministries. She loved spending time with her family and friends which often included trips to Minneapolis and eating at the Nankin Restaurant.
She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Stan (and Clara) Hoogeveen of Pella, Iowa, and a sister-in-law, Lydia Hoogeveen of Willmar, besides many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Angie (and Robert) Gort, Esther (and Anthony) Zondervan, Eva (and Lester) Brouwer and Helen (and Delmar) Mulder; and one brother, Harry Hoogeveen. Blessed be her memory.
