Marvin L. Imsdahl

Marvin L. Imsdahl 89, of New London, died Saturday, May 2, 2020, at GlenOaks Care Center in New London. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home in New London. www.hafh.org Marvin Lowell Imsdahl was born on June 4, 1930, near Brooten MN, the son of Olaf and Ema (Baalson) Imsdahl. He attended grade school at District 83 country school north of Brooten and graduated from Brooten High School in 1948. In January of 1954, Marvin entered the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1956, serving 1.5 years in Germany. After the military, Marvin moved back to Minnesota and began working for the Minnesota Highway Dept working on a survey crew. In 1957 he began working for the US Postal Service in Minneapolis, retiring in 1985. While in Minneapolis Marvin was a member of the Minneapolis Police Reserve and a Member o the Hennepin County Draft Board. Marvin was a lifelong member of Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Brooten. He was active there as treasurer, trustee, head usher, and bell ringer for 32 years. Marvin was also a member of the Big Grove Cemetery Board where he served as superintendent and treasurer. Marvin was also a member of the Belgrade VFW and Brooten American Legion. Marvin is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Melvin, Orville, and Elwood; and sisters, Mildred and Eileen.
