Mavis Emma Hultgren
Mavis Emma Hultgren, 89, died Sunday, December 12th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her funeral will be 11:00 am, Friday, December 17th at United Methodist Church in Willmar with interment in Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. There will be a visitation on Thursday, December 16th from 4-7 pm at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The service will be recorded and posted to www.hafh.org for viewing later.
Mavis was born January 4, 1932, in Willmar, the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Rusten) Rambow. She grew up on a farm in St. John’s Township, attended Priam for grade school and graduated from Willmar High School in 1950, having been the Homecoming Queen her senior year.
She was united in marriage to Donald Hultgren on August 23, 1952 at United Methodist Church in Raymond. They farmed in St. John’s Township where Mavis raised her children and sewed drapes with her sister, Judy. Don preceded her in death on August 4, 1990. In 2013, she moved into Willmar.
After being active in 4-H in her youth, Mavis continued as an adult leader with her children. She was an active member of United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher, and belonged to Methodist Women. She also belonged to Kandiyohi County Homemaker’s Extension Group.
Surviving are her children: Cindy (Larry) Rice of Willmar, Randy (Kim) Hultgren of Raymond, Carmen (Wayne) Knott of Raymond, Sarah (Jean Patrick) Hultgren of Lafayette, CO, and Jason (Anne) Hultgren of Raymond; daughter-in-law, Shannon (Vernon) Loch of Litchfield; 15 grandchildren: Allison (Luke), Luke (Carolyn), Ashly (Russell), Tiffany (Brett), Kyle (Meghan), Lindsay (Greg), Rachel (Jeremy), Bethany (Eric), Gina, Tyler (Melissa), Emma (Brian), Hannah (Michael), Joseph, Elise and Katelyn, and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings: Marion Larson of Willmar, Judy (Rollie) Boll of Willmar; sisters-in-law: Donna Dee Rambow, Signe Rambow and Carol Rambow all of Willmar; Marilyn Hultgren of Vadnais Heights and brother-in-law, James Peters of Willmar.
Besides her husband, Donald, and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Doug, grandson, Jamison, siblings, Glen, Gerald, Floyd and Allen.
