On Sunday, October 13, 2019, Jennifer Grace Thompson Isaac of Edina passed away at the age of 55. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and educator. Jeni was born on March 22, 1964, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar to Joe Thompson and Carol Anderson. She attended Willmar High School where she was active in art, drama, music, and dance. She went on to attend Hamline University in St. Paul and Mankato State University where she received her master’s degree in Speech Communication. Jeni believed in the strength of relationships. She relished creating comfortable and interesting spaces for her family and friends to gather, laugh, love, and grow. Jeni was passionate about the power of communication and was a beloved instructor at Normandale Community College, where she positively influenced thousands of students and colleagues for more than 26 years. Jeni had wanderlust and loved to travel the world with her family and students. She believed learning about different people and cultures would increase understanding and bring us all a little closer together. Jeni was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Thompson, her grandmother, Lucille Lysne, and her uncle, William Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Michael Thompson Isaac of Edina and Isle, and her three children, Drew Bluske (Phillips) of Edina, Jade Johnson (Phillips) of Golden Valley, and Benjamin Thompson Isaac of Richfield. She is also survived by her mother, Carol Anderson, of Bloomington, her father and stepmother, Joe and Kay Thompson of Willmar, sister, Laura Thompson of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and stepbrother, Richard Flaata of Buffalo. She is survived by many other family, friends, and colleagues who will miss her enthusiasm, kindness, and gentle power. A celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held at Unity Church Minneapolis, 4000 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at 10:30 am. All who knew Jennifer are welcome.
