Kris Vick

Kris Vick, age 66 of Raymond, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 15, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital.

A time to celebrate Kris’s life will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Raymond. In lieu of flowers, memorials to either the Cancer Center in Willmar, Hawk Creek Animal Shelter or Pawsitivity Service Dogs are preferred. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com

Kristin “Kris” Ann Vick was born on December 15, 1954, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Eddie and Janie (Peters) Johnson. She grew up on a farm near Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School in 1972. Kris attended music college prior to the Vo-Tech school in Rochester where she received medical secretary training. On December 10, 1977, Kris was united in marriage to Douglas Vick, and they made their home near Pennock. In 1979, they purchased a farm near Priam where they have resided since. Kris worked as a secretary at Rice Memorial Hospital and later at Pal’s. Following her work at Pal’s, Kris had the privilege of working for Joan Blonigan-Christianson Chiropractic, where her love of natural health blossomed. In 1997 she became a Licensed Pain Specialist and founded Hands on Therapy in Willmar. A little while later, Kris had the privilege of working with her sister, Lisa who joined the therapy business. Kris was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She played trumpet in the community band for several years. Kris enjoyed watching all sports, particularly Minnesota teams, the FOX News Channel, and reading. Those who knew her best knew she was an avid Vikings fan and cherished Sunday football games with the family. Her family was the center of her life. She enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s athletic and school activities and cherished all the family holiday gatherings. A yearly highlight for Kris was when she was honored to be able give back to many of our area veterans on Veteran’s Day with complimentary massage therapy sessions.

She is survived by her loving husband, Doug; three children, Megan Vick of Spicer, Morgan Engstrom (and Billy Boese) of Renville and Jordan Vick of Raymond; three grandchildren, Madalyn and Mckenly Engstrom and Macey Boese; one brother, Corey Johnson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two sisters, Kathy (and Bob) Steffen of Danbury, Wisconsin and Lisa (and Todd) Osthus of Clara City; and her beloved canine companions, Gracie and Zoe, besides other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, George and Norma Vick; one sister, Helen in infancy, and many beloved pets.
