Betty Jane Freeman

Betty Jane Freeman peacefully went home to Heaven on August 31, 2022, at the age of 96.Jane was born in Lakeview, MI on March 20, 1926, to Clif and Clara Imhoff. Jane attended Spring Arbor College and Sparrow School of Nursing before graduating from Greenville College in 1952. Jane met John Freeman while working as a nurse at Traverse City State Hospital, and they were married in 1961.

They made their home in Traverse City, MI; Ann Arbor, MI; Seattle, WA; Negaunee, MI; Marquette, MI; Sheridan, WY; and New London, MN before retiring back to Marquette, MI. After John died in 1996, Jane lived in Sioux Falls, SD; Spring Arbor, MI; Plymouth, MI and Northville, MI. She hosted and taught many Bible studies. Jane loved to sing and play hymns on the piano. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Jane is survived by her children, Mary Lyle (Randy) of Livonia, MI, Ed Freeman (Stacey) of Minnetonka, MN, and Vince (Becky) Nguyen of Darwin, MN; former daughters-in-law Margie Swanson, Tracy Dokken, and Vicki Stenmark; Thirteen grandchildren, seven-great grandchildren, her sister Elaine (Duane) Ingraham; four step-grandchildren and their families, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Freeman, and her sister, Joyce VanValin. A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date. Please share memories at fredwoodfuneralhome.com
