Diane M. Ruiter
Diane Ruiter, 79, of Willmar, formerly of Clara City, died Tuesday, January 10, at CentraCare Therapy Suites in Willmar.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Bethany Reformed Church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, www.hafh.org.
Diane Marie Petersen was born March 28, 1943, to Donald and Opal (Elliot) Petersen in Louriston Township, Chippewa County, near Murdock, Minnesota. She grew up in the rural Murdock area, was baptized at Kerkhoven Presbyterian Church, and attended District 38 School and Clara City High School. On September 12, 1958, Diane was united in marriage to Harlan Ruiter at Kerkhoven Presbyterian Church. They lived and farmed in the Clara City area for many years until recently moving to Copperleaf Senior Living in Willmar.
Diane was a member of Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City, where she was active as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, and with Ladies Aid and Handbell Choir. She enjoyed golfing and bowling and loved animals. Her Chex mix and sugar cookies are legendary. Her greatest love was her family, especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Harlan of Willmar, MN; five children: Renae (Jeff) Koenen of Wheaton, MN, Deb (Lee) Mickle of Atwater, MN, Rhonda Ruiter (Dick Manner) of Fitchburg, WI, Brad (Sara) Ruiter of Eagan, MN, and Scott (Ivy) Ruiter of Clara City, MN; twelve grandchildren: Chad (Dani) Koenen, Ryan Koenen (Jenna Martell), Brittany (Jordan) Boyle, TJ Schwartz (Crystal Laughton), Sarah (Michael) Maxwell, Kevin Schwartz, Nathan Peterson (Erika Koepsel), Griffin Ruiter, Meredith Ruiter, Dalton (Dana) Ruiter, Olivia Ruiter (Brandon Borell), and Parker Ruiter (Lauren Krieger); and eight great-grandchildren: Kendall Koenen, Korie Koenen, Logan Boyle, Tanner Boyle, Preston Schwartz, Eli Schwartz, Lillia Schwartz, and Lex Maxwell. Also surviving are her brother Dale (Jan) Petersen of Alexandria, MN; brother-in-law: Ken Tebben; sisters-in-law: Freddie Riedel and Marcia (Lowell) Schwitters; and several nieces and nephews.
