Joyce Swenson

Joyce Swenson, 89, of Willmar, died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.

Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in New London. Interment will be in the Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Joyce Annette Nell (Edman) Swenson was born March 20, 1933, in Arctander Township to Bennie and Eleanor (Swenson) Edman. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from New London High School. On June 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald Swenson in New London. This union was blessed with one daughter, Michele. Joyce and Donald worked together on their dairy farm in Dovre Township until their retirement in 1998.

Joyce was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. She thoroughly enjoyed time spend with family and friends. She enjoyed cookbooks and baking lefse and delicious treats to share.

Joyce is survived by her daughter: Michele (Charles) Nefstead; granddaughter: Nicole Nefstead (Chris); niece, Roxane (Mike) Hartkopf; nephew: Rick (Marna) Kallevig; grandnieces: Lindsay (Jerod) Johnson, Brittany (Jacob) Olson, and Jenna (Spencer) Wynia; grandnephew: Tim (Anne) Kallevig; great-grandnieces: Cali, Piper, Collins, Rylie, Madison, Libby, Ava, and Mckenna; great-grandnephews: Benjamin, Hunter, and Chase; and her beloved granddog: Frankie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Donald in 2017; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gustaf and Petra Swenson; sister: Joann Kallevig; and brother-in-law: Orville Kallevig.
