Mary Louise Johnson was born on June 7, 1936 in Lake Lillian, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Richard and DeLoris (Lundquist) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. She attended grade school in Lake Lillian and graduated from Bird Island High School in 1954.

Mary was united in marriage to Algene C. Johnson in 1955. She was blessed with three children; Pamela, Pauline, and Perry. Mary always worked hard to provide for her children to give them the best life she could. She was employed by Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co., Neighbor Inc., and for the City of Lake Lillian as the liquor store manager before retiring at 65. She proudly held the “title” of the oldest living lifelong resident of Lake Lillian.

Mary was the most loving, kind, devoted, and giving mother and grandmother her family could have asked for. She was always lending a helping hand and doing whatever she was asked to do. Mary loved spending time with her family, catching up with her family and friends on the telephone, doing puzzles, gardening, flowers, exercising with friends at the community center, and supporting her family at their various activities. She was a wonderful cook and her family will miss her corn flake chicken and coffee cake the most. Mary cherished her wonderful memories with her family, her sisters, and their families out at Big Kandi Lake, family gatherings, and any time they could all get together.

Mary is survived by her children and their spouses, Pamela (Keith) Blad of Darwin, Pauline (Gary) Melin of Olivia, and Perry Johnson of Lake Lillian; Grandchildren, Darcie (Luke) Braaten of Litchfield and Madison Melin of Olivia; Great Granddaughters, Sydney, Grace, Stella, and Brynnley Braaten; Sisters, Marlyce Manderfeld of Olivia and Twyla Johnson of Bloomington; and many other family and friends.
