Peggy Garberich, 66, of Willmar, died Friday, July 15th unexpectedly at her home of natural causes. Her funeral will be 11:00 am, Thursday, July 21st at Assembly of God in Willmar. Peggy was born on April 18, 1956, the fifth of five children of Marvin and Leona (Haack) Beckman. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She grew up in Iona, MN and graduated from Slayton High School. After graduation, she moved to Willmar and attended Willmar Vocational and Technical School.

Peggy had a big heart and was generous and caring to her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, her sisters, nieces, and nephews. She loved to bake and frequently provided goodies for friends, co-workers, and choir rehearsals at Willmar Assembly of God. She loved being a part of the annual Christmas Musical.

She was an avid Vikings fan. Peggy watched all the games, and she did not appreciate being interrupted during a game and especially disliked having someone tell her the score if she hadn’t watched the game yet. She even brought all of her great nieces and nephews to Viking training camp one year.

She loved dogs and her last dog, Bella, a Bernese Mountain, brought her companionship, joy, and peace the past couple of years. Whenever Peggy went out to eat, she brought Bella a hamburger and french fries too. Peggy was still grieving Bella’s recent death.

For the past 30+ years Peggy lived in rural Belgrade. She worked at Rice Memorial Hospital for many years and then in accounting and customer service. She became physically disabled and retired at the age of 65. She had recently moved into Willmar.

Peggy was loved dearly and will be missed by her four grandchildren: Bryce, Ronan, Fiona and Owyns Gutierrez; sisters: Dorothy (Tom) Von Holtum, Sioux Falls, SD, Marvena (Charlie) Agnew, Walker, MN and Nancy Manning, Brandon, SD; four nieces: Amber (Paul) Engelkes, Tammy (Kevin) Aaenson, Linda LaValle (fiancé Trent) Misty (Eric) Sommerness; nephews: Kyle Von Holtum, Eric (Katie) Von Holtum and Brent (Amy) Von Holtum; 10 great nieces/nephews and 12 great, great nieces/nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Roger, parents, grandparents, great-great nephew, Griffin Engelkes, cousin, Mary Ann Foley, and numerous aunts/uncles.

Blessed be her memory.
