Richard was born in Wheaton, MN on October 16th, 1948 and ended his battle with lung cancer on April 14th, 2021. To many he was known as Rick or Ricky. He was stubborn, sarcastic, ornery, and funny; which made him who he was. He was a MacGyver of all things & believed anything could be fixed with a little duct-tape. He was not your typical people person, but if you could take his teasing and give it back in return, you were then apart of his circle.  Richard married Darlene Beyer in 1973 and raised 2 children; Michael & Connie in Holloway. Later divorced, he moved to Prinsburg, where he lived out the last 20+ years with Harriet Dittes. Harriet was Rick’s rock during many challenging times he faced, especially the last 2 yrs when he couldn’t care for himself due to cancer.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren & Harriet’s great grandchildren. He also loved his collection of eagles & watching Nascar.  Rick is survived by his children; Michael Mellies & Connie (Mellies) Rose. His grandchildren; Samantha, Shawn, Sierra, & Teaghan. His sister Julie (Joel) Teberg & his nephews; Craig & Bo.  Rick was predeceased by Opal (Mellies) Fridgen & Ray Mellies. There will be a private ceremony for the family at the Dumont Cemetery in June. “His wings were ready but our hearts were not. Fly High with the Eagles Dad.”
