Verlyn Magnuson

Verlyn Lee Magnuson, age 75 of Rosemount, passed away on November 28, 2021. Verlyn was born in Willmar, MN on October 7, 1946 to  Ellsworth and Dolores (Jacobson) Magnuson. He attended Lincoln Elementary through fifth grade. He lived briefly in Cokato, Hutchinson, St. Paul, and Minneapolis when his father worked for the railroad. The family returned to Willmar in 1960 and Verlyn graduated from Willmar High School in 1964. Verlyn attended Willmar Community  College, studying drafting and machine design. He started working for 3M Company in 1966 as draftsman. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota, earning a degree in Engineering. Verlyn worked for 3M for 30 years. After 41 years of service at 3M & Imation, Verlyn retired in 2007.  Verlyn married Jacqueline Fredin on June 12, 1976 in Prior Lake, MN. They lived in Rosemount with their three children Aimee, Heather, and Aaron.

Favorite pastimes included camping, fishing, and outdoor activities. In 2011 they bought a cabin near Hillman, MN, where Verlyn loved to spend time. The many ventures Verlyn enjoyed included getting fishing gear ready, boat prep, and an occasional trip to the casino. 

He is survived by his wife Jackie; children Aimee (Brent) Nelson, Heather Magnuson, Aaron (Kirstin)  Magnuson; grandchildren Blake and Paige Nelson, Freya Magnuson.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 4th at 11 am. Visitation one hour before the service from 10-11 am at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, Apple Valley, MN 55124.
