Walter Luverne Anderson, 84, of New London, died Saturday, July 13th at his home. His funeral will be 1:00 pm, Friday, July 19th at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Thursday at the church and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org Walter was born March 3, 1935, in Colfax Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the son of Lloyd and Lulla (Hystad) Anderson. He grew up and lived at the family farm near Brooten where he graduated from high school. He then attended Dunwoody Institute where he graduated in 1963. On May 19, 1962, he was united in marriage to Diane Sakariason at West Norway Lake Lutheran Church. They lived in Bloomington as Walter worked as an engineer tech for Hennepin County Public Works Department. Upon his retirement in 2000 after 37 years, they moved to their home on Lake Andrew. He was baptized and confirmed at South Lake Johana Lutheran Church. Since moving to Lake Andrew, Walter and Diane have belonged to Hope Lutheran Church where he was on the church council, served on the Endowment Committee and was an usher. He enjoyed reading, hunting and fishing but his greatest joy and satisfaction was simply being a “family man.” Surviving are his wife, Diane; children: Karen (and Deb) Schaefer of Norwood/Young America; Kevin (and Katie) Anderson of Farmington; Keith Anderson (and Robyn Bjerke) of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Kirsten Helker, Reese and Ella Anderson; brother, Allen (and Melody) Anderson of Weatherford, TX; sister-in-law, Carolyn Sakariason-Wellnitz and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Lenice (and Chester) Tvedt, and brother-in-law, Douglas Sakariason.
